Indian passport holders with a USA Green Card or residence visa from the UK or the European Union must apply for an online pre-approved visa-on-arrival to enter the UAE.

The new regulation has been announced by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai and allows a stay of 14 days. An extension of 14 days can be provided one time.

Before this, Indian travellers who were eligible could obtain a visa on arrival at UAE airports. However, this new regulation now requires eligible Indian travellers to apply online first through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) website: https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae/en

Online Application Process:

  1. Visit the GDFRA Website: Create your login for the application portal - https://smart.gdrfa.gov.ae
  2. Log in and Apply: Enter the required personal details in the form, attach the required documents, pay the fees (253 Dirham) and submit the application
  3. The processing time for approval is 48 hours

When the visa has been approved, it will be sent to your registered email.

Documents Required:

  1. A valid passport with a validity of no less than 6 months
  2. Permanent residency card or visa issued by the USA, or a residence visa issued by the UK or the European Union with a validity of no less than 6 months
  3. Personal photo with a white background

Please note that the GDFRA ultimately decides to approve or reject the visa application.
